Aegibong Peak, overlooking peace across the Han River
When you go up to the observatory, you can see Gaepung-gun, North Korea, right across the Jogang River. It's fascinating to realize that the actual distance is only about 1.4km. You can also use binoculars to see the North Korean villages and surrounding scenery. There is a Starbucks at the observatory where you can drink coffee while looking at North Korea, making this place a special tourist spot these days. With a well-maintained Peace Ecology Exhibition Hall and walking trails, it's more fun to take your time exploring rather than just looking at North Korea. Since it is a civilian control zone, foreigners must bring their passports, and it is recommended to book online in advance. On-site tickets are only available if there are cancellations or no-shows, so advance booking is the safest option.
